Difference Between DSLR, iPhone And Smartphone Camera Megapixels

My phone has a 12-megapixel camera. My phone has a 48-megapixel camera. One minute brother, there is 64 on my phone. Just Wait I have 108. Now just do all of you, I have an iPhone. You have seen all the people talking about camera megapixels, but when it comes to iPhones, nobody talks about megapixels of the camera.

Why? In today’s smartphones, 12,48,64,108 Megapixels cameras are available, but in the iPhone, only a 12 MP camera is better than all these cameras. After all, what is it that in the 12 trumps of iPhone, he alone outweighs the quality of all these? Quit it, you must have seen in the DSLR Cameras. They are also mostly 24,12 MP but they are many times better than phones. Why?

All such questions may have come to your mind at some time or you would like to know about it. To know the answer to all these questions and to understand, you must first understand what is the megapixel. Once you know all the things of the MP well, then you will get the answers to all your questions very easily. You will understand the whole thing. Let us know all these concepts one by one.

Cameras Pixels

Whenever you click a photo from your smartphone, there is a photosensor in your phone which helps in capturing the photo. Now here is the sensor which we also called an image sensor. Inside these sensors, there are very small boxes which we call pixels. These boxes are so small that you cannot see them with your naked eyes. When you click a photo, the information/data of that photo is stored in these small boxes.

Pixel Boxes

If you want to see these boxes, then you need a photo of a very good quality camera. To see the boxes, you can zoom the same photo a lot, you might see some boxes with your naked eyes. These small square boxes are called pixels. Hope you understand the pixel. If you have understood the pixels then you will also understand Mega Pixel very easily.

Cameras Megapixels

To understand this, I will take you a little bit in mathematics.

1 Megapixel = 1000000 Pixels

Yes, there are 1 million pixels within 1 Megapixel. Meaning when these one million pixels are combined together then 1Megapixel is formed.

It Means.

No. Of MegapixelsNo. Of Pixels [Boxes]
12 MP1 crore 20 lakh Pixel
48 MP4 Crore 80 Lakh Pixel
64 MP6 Crore 40 Lakh Pixel
108 MP10 crore 80 Lakh pixel

Accordingly, the higher the megapixels of the cameras, the greater its resolution will be. For example – if there is a 12 amp camera, then its resolution will be

4290×2800 = 12012000

So somewhere its pixel is equal to 1 MP. Similarly, there will such resolutions of 48,64,108 MP camera photos. As you may also know that the higher the resolution, the more you can zoom the photo. A photo taken with a 12-megapixel camera does not zoom as much as the 64 one. And this happens because of the number of pixels. If the pixels are more then the image will also be more zoomed.

Hopefully, you have understood about Mesa Pixel and Pixel. Do you know that most of the smartphone companies would sell you the same 12-megapixel camera as 48 and 64? Well, it is 48 and 64, but what do they do that 12 becomes 48. Let me tell you how it happens.

12 MP = 48 MP How ?

Mostly the companies use the same type of sensors in all different cameras. Let’s understand with an example. Suppose you take a box and take 12 mangoes. Imagine the box is an image sensor and 1 mango is MP.

Only 12 mangoes can be kept in that box, but you want to keep 48 mangoes in it. To do this you change those mangos and bring small mangos from them. Meaning if the size of one mango was 8, then you brought 4 mangoes of size 2. As you know 1 mango = 1 MP. So that means the 12-megapixel sensor has now changed to 48 megapixels.

In such a way, companies give you cameras with so many megapixels. And this is the reason why there is such a difference in the quality of the photos of the iPhone and Androids.

Difference between the iPhone and smartphone picture quality, despite having the same type of megapixels.

If the camera of the iPhone has a 12-megapixel sensor, then only 12 Megapixels are put in it, not those megapixels are reduced to 48,64. If you talk about a smartphone then I have told you. Companies shorten the size of the normal pump according to the sensor and increase the number of the MPs. If the box will large, then much data will be saved in it and it will be more zoomed and will give better picture quality. As these smartphone companies make the MP smaller, then the pixels inside them also become smaller. If the box becomes small then the quality of the image will decrease automatically.

So when you click the photo from the iPhone’s camera, its quality is better than the quality of the Android phone’s photo. Because they do not change the normal size of the megapixel according to the sensor, Let it be as it should be. This is why people in the market call the iPhone the quality king. iPhone never compromises with its quality. One question now is that despite the DSLR’s camera being fewer megapixels gives better images compared to iPhones and Android smartphones.

Why DSLR is the best for High Quality Images from all?

DSLR’s camera sensors are larger than mobile. Due to the sensor being large, their sizes of the pixels are large and their pixels are large due to the size of the MP’s. If the pixels are large means that the boxes containing the data of the image are large, then the image quality will be good. Despite having small sensors, The DSLR camera gives the best quality images.

If the sensor of the DSLRs is reduced and its Magpixels are also shortened then the image quality will also decrease automatically.
